November 5th 2011.  Welcome aboard Kimberly

    Kimberly Kelly’s Bio

Hello, let me first introduce myself by saying I am Kimberly Kelly and I am an owner at Ocean Villas.  This is our first year owning with you, and I would like to get more involved with the board.  I am a Graduate student at Liberty in Professional Counseling majoring in Family and Marriage Counseling and I am also a local writer for our Woman’s Magazine here in Charlottesville VA.  My husband and I are relocating to the Nags Head area as soon as my husband secures full time work as a Contractor/ Handyman while I will be opening my own practice there. I would like to set on any area of the board except for Treasurer.  The areas that I would like to see improved on is 1) communication with the owners, 2) bringing the owners more together 3) seeing some activities planned at the facilities even if it means combining forces with other timeshares such as cookouts, luau nights at the pool, things for the children and teens to make them want to come with their families, volleyball games on the beach, winter time especially needs something fun to be added in. 4) have a concierge area for basic toiletries and basic kitchen needs such as milk, sugar, and things so if someone wants coffee they do not need to make a huge store trip for A cup of Joe! J  These are just a start with ideas and there are tons more where this came from.  I set on the board for Liberty University American Association of Christian Counselors as well as feel that I serve the members well.  I enjoy working with people and finding new solutions to old problems, I guess that I why I became a Therapist! J

Blessings,

Kimberly

Dare County Orders Evacuation of All Visitors

The Dare County Control Group has ordered a mandatory evacuation for all visitors throughout all of Dare County effective 8:00 a.m., Thursday, August 25.

All visitors are urged to make preparations and leave the area.  Dare County Emergency Management urges visitors to take all personal belongings with them during evacuation.  Other preparation steps are available at www.ReadyNC.org  and www.darenc.com

Although the mandatory evacuation order is for all Dare County visitors, residents are advised to take proper precautions and make general storm preparations.  This effort should include securing all loose items outdoors.  Monitor local news outlets for further advisories from the National Weather Service and state and local emergency management officials.

The Dare County Control Group will meet again on Thursday, August 25 after the 5:00 p.m. storm advisory has been issued by the National Hurricane Center.  Further evacuations should be anticipated as Irene moves closer to the Outer Banks.

RECENT CHANGES TO THE OV

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Chez Szczesniak has resigned from the OV BOD.  She feels that at the present time she cannot contribute to the HOA Board because of her Mother’s illness.  The board accepted Chez’s resignation with regret and hope that Chez can return after she retires and her life is more settled.

The OV BOD is pleased to announce that Joan Keel has joined the OV BOD as a Director at Large with a one year term.  Please Welcome Joan aboard.

The BOD hopes that by having  Directors at Large with a one year term will  get them acclimated to the board.   From here they may choose to run for an elected seat on the board or step down if it is not for them.    Needless to say…Joan Keel was excited to hear this and is our first director at large w/the 1 year term.

Joan’s resume’

My name is Joan Keel nee Fitzpatrick.  My husband, Eddie (the guy holding the fish on OV website) have been vacationing in Nags Head since 1980 and homeowners at Ocean Villas since February 2003.

I hear that theme song to “Twilight Zone” when I think of Ocean Villas (and I mean that in a good way).  In January 2003, I was surfing the web and came across the newsletter for Ocean Villas (who would have thought).  It listed an owner wanting to sell - so to make a long story short we became owners. Maybe it was meant to be.

I am self-nominating for the November Annual Meeting.

I am energized by the new Board and want to help. I’m impressed with all the changes and new ideas.  My background is in Real Estate Sales; Management and Ownership.  My 33 year career is slowing down so I can now give more time to Ocean Villas. I have been appalled by the number of Maintenance Fee delinquencies listed in a recent Newsletter and want to use my background to help collect these fees; come up with ideas to attract new owners; and keep the ball rolling on improvements to the property.  It’s such a warm place - I Just Love it

Thank You For Your Consideration,

Joan M. Keel

RECENT CHANGES TO THE OV

Board of Directors

Bill Glenz, has resigned from the OV HOA Board of Directors.  We are pleased that Bill will continue to serve as the OV Webmaster and Editor of our Newsletter.  Reney Olson, First Vice President will continue to serve as First Vice President and as Acting President until   the OV HOA annual meeting on November 5th, 2011

The OV BOD is pleased to announce that Mark Patriquinn has joined the OV BOD to fill the Board Vacancy that will expire in November 2012.  Please welcome Mark aboard.

Mark’s resume’:

I currently reside outside of Richmond, Virginia, in Chesterfield County with my wife, Diana.  We have no pets, but we do have many birds (that we feed generously), a parade of squirrels (that we feed inadvertently), sporadic sightings of fox and deer – oh and we also have children.  Diana’s son Drew (18) makes an occasional appearance when not with his friends or his father.  I see my three daughters less frequently – they live with their mother in Newport News.  They are Susan (19), Lindsay (16) and Meredith (7).  My path to Richmond has been a circuitous one.  I was born in Portland, Maine and, at the age of 5, moved to Montreal, Quebec.  I lived there for 12 years before heading off to college at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York.  From there I went off to Ohio University in Athens, Ohio to receive my MBA in General Business and Finance.  I was a banker in Columbus, Ohio for several years before getting a big promotion and moving to Minneapolis.  I was there for 1 year before the company was sold and I was “downsized.”  It was then that we moved to Richmond.  In Richmond, I have worn many hats.  I have been a business manager at a car dealer, originated mortgages, sold insurance and investment products, delivered for FedEx and now I am a Home Improvement contractor.   At first glance, one might think this an odd progression of career moves.  As I review it here, today, I see it as a natural progression that has led me to my current endeavor.  As a Home Improvement contractor I have creative freedom, I get great satisfaction from having a part in shaping the dreams of people in the community, and, I stand or fall on my own merit.  I enjoy the challenges and the rewards.

And so it is with my recent involvement in Ocean Villas.  I would not commit to this endeavor if I didn’t think that I could make significant contributions there, too.  Having worked with Reney and Sandra (Butch too!) and Sheldon, I feel that there is a good nucleus there that cares about the property and has big dreams for it.  My experiences in life and business will be strong contributors to the board in the near term and (hopefully) beyond November.  I look forward to working with all of you to make Ocean Villas the premier property in Nags Head!
